In the works—

I’ve been staying busy with numerous freelance projects… and have some exciting ones in the works:
—A website for Deep Search Audio, a mobile recording studio in Wichita, Kansas
—A website for Ravenwood Productions, a North Carolina-based cinematography studio
—A poster/insert for the upcoming 7″ from Slavagoh, based in Philadelphia
—And the Air House Records site will be launching sometime in July…
It’s good to stay busy, right?
Deep Search Audio logo
Deep Search Audio specializes in mobile, on-location recording. The logo is an interpretation of sonar/radar screens associated with searching the deep sea, as well as the recognizable forms related to audio speakers/recording equipment. The fragmented aspect the logo brings a sense of depth and motion as it spirals inward, a nod to the mobile element of Deep Search Audio.

AHR Logo
Inspired by the form of turntable tonearms and old speaker grilles, I created the logo for Air House Records, an independent record label specializing in “dreamy/minimal/ambient-type stuff”. Looking forward to creating their site, due this coming spring.

Updates
I’ve recently made some updates to my portfolio, mlassiter.com. I will be adding more images soon. I’m working on a couple of new projects with Duke Creative, so that should be fun. Also working on a re-design of the Air House Music Academy site, which will be up soon. Cheers!

Stemico Identity

Stemico is a construction company in Belgrade, Serbia that specializes in residential construction. For their new identity, I was inspired by the views of rooftops of homes around Belgrade. Taking cues from both the shapes and colors of those scenes, I constructed a bold and distinctive “S” letterform that can easily stand alone:

The new logo will be used on a variety of applications (business cards/letterhead/vehicles,etc). Photos will be posted soon!

Work published in “layout essentials” book

My Franklin Gothic editorial spreads (from Jennifer Bernstein’s Type Systems class) are featured in the newly published book from Rockport Publishers: “Layout Essentials: 100 Design Principles for Using Grids” by Beth Tondreau!
My work shares a spread with Daniela Lien (UArts GD 2008) under the section “Breaking The Rules: Follow Your Heart”. Pretty exciting! The book is a great reference for using grids, so check it out.

Present/Tense
carded and accounted for, acknowledged–
these exchanges are Forgettable
this packing up is Tiresome
those deliveries are Heavy-less
and without any idea
___
but we continue to count the thoughts that Count
C(old)
here we go:
a flurry of the Unread,
a shivering Inquiry,
and a grey-skyed Dose of the Gloved–
List/Less
at times there is Loud
at times there is Meaning
at times, Things Emote
at times its not about Comfort
at times there is a Shift and a need and a tremble and a sick–
Sea/Red
downwind and dodging the Opaque Cloud–
there is little to keep
and even less to hoard;
leave home and feign Participation,
as every(no)one likes a parade.
plus, Police–
Collect/Did
the trolleying Mice, aboard–
keeping up and under and yanking Our Chain;
tasked with schedules,
masked with Purpose:
a continual shuffle and desire to sit
(P)B.S.
That sad AntiquesRoadshow Hope
in the economic DownPlunge–
you’ve collected and amassed a whole hell of alot
(complete with a Story or Three)
towards the Expert’s expertise
you speak Rehearsed with Interest&Want:
do you really think it has Worth?
Mass
oh Beloved Exponential Failure
that groups and gathers
that purchases in piles
that attaches and Accepts:
it seems You might already be Willing
(with emphasis on seems)
There There
gather up your CouldHaves
stretch across your WhatNows
tinker with your KnowNots
and pretend to fake the TrulyArtificial

because it may just be Just
and it just might be Mighty
